The Barack Obama Website

I have just hit the two websites, McCain and Obama and I am taken aback.

McCain's site seems to be migrating from his black layout - to a sort of dark blue. The site itself seems laid out along the lines of three to five boxes which are proportionately positioned to keep your mouse within them.

The Obama website, on the other hand, seems to follow the same layout that it has been following for the past year - a clean site, very well organized.  There is a flash animation left, and the very first thing you're going to see is a declaration of independence that looks striking and catches your attention immediately.

McCain really seems, by contrast - disorganized. The site layout is confused. I think he's morphing from black to another type of site for the General Election.

Do you think Obama's website is the cats meow? I wonder.
Is McCain's website kind of fragmented?

Talk to me

Clinton Supporters to head over to McCain?

A few Clinton supporters are saying they'll head over to John McCain. As a die-hard Obama fan (who happened, by the way, to get my free sticker today ! Its blue and its going to look good on my new blue hybrid)  I am not suprised.

The Clinton support infrastructure had ties to republican support - you can find out easily enough, by looking at campaign records. There were several openly republican clinton supporters who were backing her in an open primary, to make sure McCain didn't have to face Obama in a general election. And Bill Clinton campaigned amongst republicans, as well.

In the south, they were praying for Hillary. She sparks outrage amongst the conservative base. She would have galvanized their support for whomever the GOP wished to run. The GOP talk show circuit loved to demonize Hillary whenever they could.

However, apart from the obvious shills, I believe there are still people who will state that they will back John McCain , since they didn't get Hillary.  But the question is. How many, really?

I saw a recent poll that showed the Democratic party unity is at an all time record level, with over 81% of self identified democrats pledging their support for Obama? Are the Clinton Democrats, the ones in that 19% that are going to defect?
Are you a clinton supporter? Will you head over to John McCain?

Goosebumps

The first time I felt it was when I saw my state campaign starting to bear serious fruit.  On the night that I saw my campaign work deliver my state to Barack Obama by a 67% margin, I caught a small flash of it. Its a feeling of change.

I caught it again, much later - after Obama's speech. I usually ignore big media events - rally talk. It really is all so much handwaving. And by the same token, I usually ignore the campaign-generated scandals of the week - I go for the throat.

Who is Obama going to tag for VP? What will his cabinet look like. Because , this time, the shivers that went down my spine were General Election shivers.

I realized the man is hard at work securing a longshot win against a deeply entrenched political party that has only recently yielded just a fraction of its 20 year grip on power.

The presidencies of Reagan, Bush, and Bush Jr. , amount to over 20 years of office, broken only once by none other than the political family that Obama bested.

Normally I rise to the occasion. This time, the electricity was almost tactile. Whenever I am in DC, I can almost see the lines of power spiraling down from the sky - but now, in the Atlanta  of Martin Luther King and the radical change of the 60's - I can feel the arc of that power extending down to the people itself.
Even, to me.

I am a business leader, and an amateur political writer - and somehow, thanks to Obama, I am now also a part of a revolution.
One that he's started.

I can feel it in the air. This type of win, is bigger than all of us.  What will happen next?

Where to go from here

Ok, where we all have to go from here is pretty clear, to me.
So I thought I'd share this with you - maybe some Clinton supporters are wondering what will happen next.

It's pretty simple. Your candidate is going to be the Vice President,  what the Bush administration has fashioned to be , essentially - the CEO of the United States. A powerful position that reflects the strength of the candidate and her skills put to good use. President of the Senate.  Behind the scenes work.
Drains the Cheney quagmire and makes the office workable again.

Then, we're going to put John Edwards in as Attorney General. The man has made a career out of righting wrongs. With John  "let the eagle soar" Ashcroft and Alberto "top gun" Gonzalez outgoing, there's enough work there for a young lawyer from North Carolina, to keep him out of trouble. Besides, his wife is hot. Did I say that?  You bet I did.

Finally, we've got to have Bill "put the north koreans in their place" Richardson as Secretary of State.  Condi "bin laden determined to attack US" Rice has served well under the Bush administration, she's done almost everything they wanted her to do. But Bill Richardson, who's hailing from a state where the worlds first commercial spaceport is being built - is the man for the job.

Finally, Jerome needs to put me back on the front page!

Great Asset

Following my previous line of reasoning, I am seeing the Obama camp edge closer to declaring their VP.

"She is going to be a great asset when we go into November"

Is this a tacit endorsement of her credentials for VP?

Clinton for VP

I swear to you that I will deny this rumor. But I have heard that the Obama camp is nearing a decision to pick a running mate and its looking like Clinton is on the short list.

This is an unconfirmed rumor and if you ask me where I got it I will deny even having heard it. Or that the announcement will be made within 2 weeks.

Heard any better ones than this? Anyone know who McCain is going to choose?
